Sustainability as a trademark

At Squiby Foods, sustainability doesn’t start with numbers – it starts with conviction. The belief that international food distribution and responsibility toward people and planet can go hand in hand.

For three decades, this family-owned company has supplied European food products to customers in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The scale is large, the reach is global. And that makes the central question even more urgent: how do we minimize our footprint without compromising on quality and reliability?

In 2023, Squiby Foods took a decisive step. For the first time, the company mapped its full carbon footprint – covering not just direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2), but also the wider impact across logistics, transport, and supply chain activities (Scope 3). This gave the team clear insight into where the greatest environmental gains could be made. Not out of obligation, but from a genuine desire to take responsibility.

Actions rooted in belief

Following this analysis, targeted measures were put in place. The entire company vehicle fleet is now electric, all office electricity is sourced from renewable energy and all business flights – inevitable in global trade – are structurally compensated through certified nature projects.

Importantly, Squiby Foods goes beyond what’s expected: it currently compensates 10% of its total emissions annually, with the ambition to grow this number to 25%.

This commitment isn’t a marketing gimmick. At Squiby Foods, sustainability is a mindset woven into every operational layer. The partnership with DGB Group is an example of this. Together, they support the Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project in Kenya – a program that provides energy-efficient stoves to households. The benefits are clear: cleaner indoor air, reduced deforestation, saved time and money.

For a company active in the region, this isn’t a distant initiative – it’s a form of connection with the everyday lives of its clients.

Sustainability as a process

At Squiby Foods, sustainable thinking is about forward thinking. That’s why it doesn’t stop at compensation. The company re-evaluates its emissions every year to stay sharp and make adjustments where needed.

The goal isn’t to appear ‘green,’ but to become structurally better. Through small and large steps, Squiby Foods quietly builds a new standard for responsible food distribution.

The result is an organization that dares to be transparent – and proves that things can be done differently. That international trade can coexist with care. That growth and responsibility are not opposites, but allies.

More than a supplier

For wholesalers and purchase managers who take sustainability seriously, Squiby Foods is more than a supplier. It’s a partner who understands that reliability also lies in the unseen: energy sourcing, logistical decisions, and a long-term vision behind every product.

Ready to rethink what reliable means?

Let’s talk. Because sustainable change starts with conscious choices – and no one makes them alone. If you are looking for a supplier who thinks beyond the shipment.
